Abstract

Here a miniaturized microstrip antenna is under consideration which is loaded by a pair of traditional double positive (DPS) substrate and practically dispersive double negative (DNG) substrate. This paper investigates the possibility and ability of microstrip antenna miniaturization with practically dispersive DNG medium. The practically dispersive DNG medium is synthesized based on the traditional split ring resonators (SRR), and its permittivity and permeability are then extracted. Then the microstrip antenna is analytically modeled by the transmission line model. Results are compared and discussed and conclusions are obtained.
