Abstract

In this paper, a novel solution for microwave biomedical imaging is proposed to reconstruct the unknown targets embedded in an inhomogeneous background medium, i.e., skin, muscle and tissue fluid. Inhomogeneous background around bounded in the domain is considered to be known scatterers and closed-form Green’s function is used, which greatly reduces the time to calculate the inhomogeneous background Green’s function. In the frame of the difference integral equation methods, i.e., difference Lippmann-Schwinger integral equation (D-LSIE), a new method combined Levenberg Marquardt (LM) algorithm and iterative updated background method (IUBM) is proposed. Especially, the generalized cross-validation (GCV) regularization technique is used to adaptively select the regularization parameters in the inversion. The synthetic tests illustrate the efficacy of the new inversion method.
