Abstract

Left ventricular (LV) remodeling following acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a major predictor of morbidity and mortality for overt congestive heart failure. Recently, several factors including B-type natriuretic peptide, cardiac troponin I, and high sensitivity C-reactive protein, have been examined as potential predicting biomarkers for LV remodeling. Tenascin-C (TN-C), an extracellular matrix glycoprotein, is not normally expressed in adult heart, but transiently appears during pathological conditions, and plays important roles in tissue remodeling.
