Abstract
INTRODUCTION: The exclusive neuronal location of the 5-HT3 receptor has recently been challenged by studies indicating it is expressed at the enteric mucosal layer. There is also evidence that the 5-HT4 receptor may be an inhibitory receptor. These studies have all been done in intact tissue models. The BON cell is a unique human pancreatic tumor cell line with enterochromaffin (EC) cell characteristics. The aim of this study was to identify autocrine receptors on BON cells.
