Abstract

AbstractIn this article, a newly asymmetric stepped‐impedance hairpin resonator (SIR), comprised of a meander line and a pair of symmetric parallel coupled lines, is presented to implement circuit reduction. Moreover, a compact filter is designed and constructed by using this novel asymmetric SIR and a slotted ground plan for spurious suppression. This proposed low‐pass filter was designed, fabricated, and measured. The experimental results of the filter have a good agreement with the simulated results. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
