Abstract

The greatest asset of any organization is its manpower, especially in the technology driven sectors like Aerospace and Defence. The success of such organizations hinges on the continuous upgradation of employee skill sets to meet rapid advances in technology. A niche industry like HAL with zero-error policy, requires highly skilled and efficient workforce that can act as a force multiplier to enhance productivity, quality and customer satisfaction. Accordingly, an innovative training process has been developed to continuously upgrade the competence level of the employees (workmen cadre) in their respective roles bring them at par with global standards. The comprehensive training approach, thus developed through in-depth study, meticulous analysis, and multiple pilot runs, was further validated and standardised based on an exhaustive scrutiny of the outcome on various performance parameters over a significant period of time. Consequently, a highly successful and novel skill development process has evolved to exist within the organisation,which will be explained here.
