Abstract

ABSTRACT This article describes the development, implementation, and resulting evaluation of a non‐credit introductory course in the Spanish American novel. The materials and lectures, all based on texts in English translation, were prepared with the specific objective of stimulating interest among students with diverse backgrounds. Favorable reception of the course as part of the Elderhostel Program for 1983 suggests that it could be used in a variety of contexts as a means of promoting enrollment in traditional foreign language classes.
