A Novel Approach for Home Surveillance System Using IoT Adaptive Security

Abstract

Providing security and safety to rural and urban areas all over the world is primary need for the urban population. There exist some defects in traditional home security or surveillance systems, such as wiring problems, higher construction, delay of receiving alarm messages, etc. To address these issues a scheme based on the Internet of Things (IoT) is proposed to improve home surveillance system. This paper proposes adaptive and novel methods in securing the home. The main aim of this paper is to work on the mind-set of the burglar and deviate him from performing this tasks. In this system, Raspberry pi and Arduino Uno is adapted as a master controller to control the system. If the burglar keeps on moving around for more than 2-3 times near the door based on his motions, few tasks like the automatically lighting of lights that are present outside the home, playing recorded voice and increasing the television sound automatically are performed. If the burglar still tries to unlock the door the video camera will capture the image and uploads them to user web application and dropbox along with this user, his neighbors will be activated with the phone call and push notification.
