Abstract

Abstract This paper presents a new method for image encryption by integrated pixel scrambling plus diffusion technique [IISPD]. The algorithm makes use of full chaotic property of logistic map and reduces time complexity. The algorithm calculates the permuting address for row by bit xor’ing the adjacent pixel values of original image. Similarly, the algorithm calculates the permuting address for column by bit xor’ing the adjacent pixel values of original image. Therefore, the new technique does not require the knowledge of probability density function of the chaotic orbits a priory, thus it reduces the complexity of the proposed technique. The diffusion is performed after scrambling and is based on two chaotic maps. Therefore, the key space and security of the algorithm is increased. The security analysis and its experimental analysis show that the proposed technique is highly sensitive to initial conditions. It also has higher key space, and higher degree of scrambling.
