Abstract

A three-dimensional (3D) metal-organic framework of cadmium(II) oxalate, [Cd(C 2O 4) 2(H 2O)](H 2O)(H 3O) 2(C 2H 5OH) 1, has been created by decomposition of pyridine-2,4,6-tricarboxylic acid under solvothermal reaction condition. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows that complex 1 self-assembles into a 3D noninterpenetrated diamondoid network with open channels accommodating guest ethanol and water molecules. The thermostability and nitrogen adsorptive property of 1 were investigated.
