Abstract

A novel slot coupled patch rectenna array backed on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity is presented in this paper. It consists of an array of four antenna units and a rectifier circuit. The upper layer of the antenna unit is a SIW cavity and radiation patch, the lower layer is SIW structure and rectifier circuit, and the middle layer is grounding end with slot coupling feeding. The rectenna operates at 35 GHz wide-band range for wireless power transfer (WPT) with high conversion efficiency. The measured rectifying efficiency is 51% on the $550 \Omega$ load when the input power is 13 dBm. In addition, the rectenna can be easily extended with good linearity to increase the energy obtained. A single rectenna array, a $2\times 2$ extended array and a $4 \times 4$ extended array were processed and tested in terms of system conversion efficiency and output power.
