Abstract

The possible existence of a potentially chaotic soliton solution of an unperturbed classical oscillator is investigated. It is shown that in general the solution of the so-called “Helmholz oscillator” is a periodic solution. Special solutions are also found where a localized soliton solution or a decaying solution is obtained depending on the initial conditions.
