Abstract
The forward elastic exchange amplitude for electron-hydrogen scattering is singular at k2=-1. The dominant contribution to the difference between this amplitude and its first Born approximation is given by the second Born term in the neighbourhood of this singularity. It is shown that this second Born term has a third-order pole at k2=-1.
