SummaryThe effects of excision of the root or shoot apices of young pea seedlings and of their replacement with auxin paste, suggest that, (i) cambial activity in the root is stimulated by auxin coming from the shoot; and (ii) auxin from the root apex either does not travel to the older parts of the root or has no effect on cambial activity.
