Abstract
Pricing policies of computers with various performance capabilities are usually assumed to be non-linear due to economies-of-scale. This article analyzes the cost-performance ratios of a single IBM product line, the 43XX series and found this performance characteristic to be surprisingly linear but with great deal of individual variation.
