Abstract

Parameters of the Gaussian distribution functions for hypocentral distances to selected intensities, are presented for Bulgaria and Romania. The results are presented in terms of (MKS) intensity, and should be of general value in macroseismic and microzonation studies in these countries. Except for the Vrancea region in Romania, the observed attenuation of the intensities versus the hypocentral distances is similar to the attenuation of the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) in the western United States of America.
