Abstract

AbstractIn view of the exceptional character of these contributions to the Bronte Museum it may not be undesirable to point out a few of the more important objects in this interesting collection Amongst those lent by Mr. Shorter is a little thin volume containing a few pages of MSS written by Emily Bronte in 1841, and another of the same character written in 1845. These, along with two other papers written by Anne, were found by Mr. Nicholls in a small tin box which had probably been used at some time as a receptacle for pins and needles. They were folded up into the smallest possible compass and had evidently been overlooked by Charlotte when she destroyed Emily’s papers.
