Abstract

An attempt has been made to correlate theoretically calculated decay effects of wing oscillations at subcritical flutter speeds with results obtained during actual flight flutter testing at these speeds. The theory discussed has been found to give reasonably good agreement with the limited number of test data obtained in flight from a single airplane. Conclusions of a general nature are as yet unwarranted, but a t least a new point of view is presented which applies to interpretation of both test and theoretical results.
