Abstract

SUMMARYA Scanning Electron Microscope was used to measure wool fibre diameter, the number of cuticular scale edges, crimp wavelength, the number of shed fibres, and the number of fibre loops in normal and cotted fleeces. The main difference observed was the greater number of loops in the cotted wools. There was no evidence of an increased number of shed fibres in the cotted fleeces.
