Abstract

Second order differential expressions of the form w −1(−( pf′)′ + qf) are considered for real-valued w > 0 on a real interval I with one singular end-point. Criteria are established for the expression to be Dirichlet and strong limit-point when p and q are permitted to be complex-valued. These extend criteria for real-valued coefficients due to W. N. Everitt, H. Kalf and others.
