Abstract

Among the most frequent cardiac manifestations in patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is infective endocarditis (IE), mainly in intravenous drug abusers (IVDA). We present the case of a patient with a non-valvular infective endocarditis, caused by an unusual bacteria associated to hypertrophic cardiomiopathy (HCM) and HIV infection.
