Abstract
While researching the lightning safety effort in Africa for a recent column, I saw a reference to a nonprofit corporation that provides support to electrical shock survivors. Lightning Strike and Electric Shock Survivors International (LS&ESSI) is devoted to supporting shock survivors, their families, and caregivers. The organization provides resources and educational programs and supports research into the medical issues that are found in survivors of electrical shock. This nonprofit organizes conferences for members and their families and has online resources, articles, and reference materials. Some reports and documents are available at a small cost through its website <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="ref1" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">[1]</xref> .
