Abstract

Octodecane was imprinted onto MoS2 to form a nonpolar buffer layer, which can get much better cyclic and rate performance in lithium ion battery. The discharge capacity retention of pristine MoS2 electrode is less than 20% after continuous operation for only 175 h at a current density of 200 mA g−1. While after continuous operation for over 400 h at a current density of 200 mA g−1, the octodecane-MoS2 electrode can still embrace a discharge capacity retention of 50%. The buffer layer can reduce the effect of volume change and prevent SEI from rupturing, thereby forming the uniform and stable SEI. This is a new exploration of the imprint technology on the lithium ion electrode, and provides a new idea for solving the life of the lithium ion battery.
