Abstract

The development of strategic alliances is very important to the liner industry. Liner shipping companies can benefit significantly from cooperating with shipping alliance members. This paper proposed a nonlinear model for container slot chartering & allocation under liner shipping alliance, which can help planners make better scheduling decisions for their fleets and routes under alliance agreement, and estimate shipping system costs more accurately. The proposed model pursued an optimal scheduling strategy for liner shipping company under shipping alliance agreement. The results showed that slot chartering under shipping alliance has outstanding advantages for shipping companies to lower their system costs, offset route capacity, and ensure the completion of freight tasks amo ng others.
