Abstract

The nonclassical heteropolyoxotungstate [P3W6(O2)6(OH)2O22]7– has been successfully synthesized and characterized well by various techniques such as FT‐IR, UV/Vis, TGA, as well as elemental analysis. The single‐crystal X‐ray analysis reveals that the two {PW3(O2)3(OH)O9} subunits are linked together through a {PO4} group, forming a nonclassical type of phosphotungstate polyanionic framework. Furthermore, the solution behaviour of the title compound has been investigated by UV/Vis spectroscopy, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry and 31P nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
