Abstract

Abstract: “A Non-[ ]hotic Child Avoids the White Woods” is a lipogram that can also be read with the missing letter added back in. Without Rs, the poem is a fanciful or surreal account of a day in the life of the speaker at age eight; with the Rs replaced, the speaker reflects on the social and physical burdens of articulation disorders, as well as the rest one can find in the Imagination.
