Abstract

We discuss the production of W +W − pairs at hadron colliders with a full O(α s) differential calculation. The complete analytical result for the partonic cross section is given. We present phenomenological applications for total and differential cross sections for LHC and SSC energies using the most recent parametrization for the structure functions. We find that radiative corrections are sizeable. We also find a strong enhancement of the p T spectrum of the W bosons at high p T due to the qg subprocess. For the total partonic cross sections we provide accurate fits to the numerically integrated results, which can be used in phenomenological applications.
