AbstractThe literary activity of the Veronese humanist Leonardo Montagna was first studied by Giuseppe Biadego, then by Leon Dorez, and finally by Giuseppe Fatini. Among other things, Biadego and Dorez were able to reveal the existence of two collections of Latin poems and epigrams by Montagna, without succeeding, however, in locating them. Thus the MS of Montagna's Latin poems, now in Paris and illustrated by him, indicated to Dorez the existence of another collection of Latin verse dedicated to Pope Paul II, while Agostini's Scrittori Viniziani told Biadego about a MS of Montagna's Latin poems addressed to his patron Lorenzo Zane, Archbishop of Spalato. Actually neither of these MSS is now lost. The volume dedicated to Pope Paul II is now at Cesena in the Biblioteca Malatestiana, MS S.XXIX.8, and as such it was described in the catalogues of the manuscripts of this library by Muccioli and Zazzeri.
