Abstract

Colonoscopy is currently regarded as the “gold standard” for diagnosing diseases of colon and rectum; it also plays a key role in colorectal cancer screening, as either a primary approach in average-risk subjects or a second level test in asymptomatic individuals with positive faecal occult test or abnormal findings at CT colonography.
