Abstract

This article reviews the social adaptation of the as a social process. There is an overview of adaptation concepts adopted in science and practice. There is an attempt to classify the types of adaptation based on the nature of the interaction, the type of adaptive environments, adaptive environment structural components and based on the psychological content. Social adaptation process is presented in the following major stages: preparatory stage, stage of psychological tension before discharge; stage of acute mental reactions to entry into civilian life; stage of acute mental reactions to exit out of military life and stage of re-adaptation.

INTRODUCTION

Social work is a relatively young, gaining distinction nowadays as a rapidly growing branch of knowledge and practical work, whose development has not been completed yet. Having emerged as a social phenomenon and a special area of human activity, it has been on a more frequent basis attracting the attention of those engaged in the field of research and becoming subject of special scientific studies This means that the studies of leading specialists dedicated to social work are based on methodological approaches, aggregations of methods and technologies, generalized practical work experience applicable to most social sciences and humanities (Terziev, 2015b).
