A new version of the reactive infinite-order sudden approximation: The incorporation of optical potentials

Abstract

In this work the ordinary inelastic infinite-order sudden approximation was coupled with optical potentials to formulate a new version for the reactive infinite-order sudden approximation (RIOSA). Cross sections obtained for the exothermic reactions Ar+H 2 + (ν +=0, 1)→ArH ++H were found to be similar to both the experimental and the quasiclassical cross sections but two to three times larger than those obtained with the previous RIOSA version.
