Abstract

Non-compaction cardiomyopathy (NCC) is an increasingly recognised condition that may occur either in isolation or co-existing with other congenital and neuromuscular conditions [1,2]. NCC is associated with excessive trabeculation, increased intertrabecular recesses and a spongy appearance of the sub-endocardium. This results in a deeper non-compacted sub-endocardial layer and a thinned compacted sub-epicardial portion of the myocardium. There is considerable controversy with regard to the diagnostic criteria.
