Abstract

A new type of narrow-band slow-wave structure, consisting of two adjacent planar arrays of conductors, is described. An approximate dispersion equation based on a simplified model is derived, and the numerical results are shown to be in good agreement with experiment. The circuit has been used in an X-band backward-wave oscillator, covering a 10%frequency band. The geometrical arrangement of the circuits is favourable for assembly in a multiple structure.
