Abstract
A new variant of a fluxgate magnetometer is introduced in this paper which uses the measurement of the change of the apparent coercive field strength derived from the primary current. The external magnetic field is measured periodically with a frequency which is the same as that of the magnetizing current of the sensor. The magnetometer shows a non-linearity of less than 0.02%, a resolution of less than 1 nT, and operates within a frequency range of the external field from 0 to 10 kHz.
