Abstract

By the combination of suction and the depolarizing action of KC1 solution a new type of electrode was constructed rendering possible the continuous recording of the mono-phasic action potentials from a relatively small area of the heart in situ. In contrast to the various suction electrodes hitherto used the action potential amplitudes reaching the 70–90 mV range did not appreciably change within 30–60 min of continuous application.
