Abstract

We propose a new BS-centric traffic load based cell zooming algorithm with transmit power control in the downlink. Power Control part adjusts the transmit power based on the average distance to adjacent cells, which helps to reduce the overlap of cell coverages and interference to other cells as well. Instead of conventional UE-centric cell zooming algorithm, the cell zooming is determined in a BS-centric way, which allows a more efficient resource allocation, and also reduces outage. Through intensive system level simulations, we show that the proposed cell zooming algorithm reduces the outage probability and increases the energy efficiency compared to the conventional cell zooming.
