Abstract

AbstractOver the past decades diode lasers have become one of the most versatile laser types. Increased output power and improved spectral characteristics have made many applications accessible for laser diodes and even today this development has not ended. Laser diodes are replacing other types of lasers because they are small, robust, and reliable. They can be produced in high volume at low cost. And in many cases laser diodes enable laser systems to find their way out of a research lab to become commercial applications. One example could be the 3He magnetic resonance imaging which complements very well the conventional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
