Abstract

The demand for three-dimensional (3D) laser scanning technology has been rapidly increasing recently. However, most existing commercial 3D laser scanning products are heavy, high power and expensive. In this paper, we demonstrate a cost-effective indoor 3D laser scanner with reasonable accuracy (millimeter-scale). The advanced prototype mainly designs a control module, and it controls a turntable with a commercial line laser and a COMS camera to scan a target surface by means of triangulation method. System calibration, image denoising and laser stripe line extraction are analyzed in detail as well.
