Abstract

The repetitive flat-top pulsed high magnetic field is an important physical condition to many industrial applications and scientific research works. A new three-structure topology has been proposed to acquire the quick magnetic field build-up, the low ripple flat-top magnetic field, high energy utilization, and repetitive frequency of the magnetic field. The new topology introduces a full-bridge energy feedback structure to help feed the magnet energy back to the capacitor resulting less power dissipation. The high precision of the flat-top is realized by using a switch-mode compensator with a T-shape structure. A transformer along with an inductor is added to provide a proper electric isolation and to reduce the injection current. In this paper, the operating and the value-fetching principles are analyzed and a design procedure for a 20 T magnet is provided. The simulation and the experiment results verify the feasibility of the topology.
