Abstract

A temperature sensor based on fibers Bragg grating in photonic crystal fibers is simulated. Fibers Bragg grating has been widely used in the field of sensor. The temperature property of uniform fibers Bragg grating in photonic crystal fibers was studied. By finite element method, the relation between the birefringence in photonic crystal fibers and the temperature was analyzed. Numerical results show that the birefringence in photonic crystal fibers is in proportion to the temperature. Still, a new measurement dependent on polarization was also presented. This measurement was proved that it is applicable for the proposed temperature sensor.
