Abstract

Experiments on the dynamic response of structures, particularly beams and plates, subjected to blast and impact loading have been reported by a number of authors. The technique reported in this paper attempts to improve the measurement of the deflection-time history. The method involves the use of light interference and has been used to measure deflections of up to 20 mm over a time period of 200 μs. However, both the deflections and time ranges could be extended.
