Abstract

The “3 and 2” technique overcomes problems of dosimetry and tolerance by employing two courses of therapy. All lymph node bearing areas from the tips of the mastoid processes to the femoral triangles are divided into a segments and irradiated sequentially to 2,000 rads in four weeks. After an adequate rest period, a second course of 1,800 rads in three weeks is given to the same areas, employing only 2 fields. The juncture point is at a level different from the other 2, making over- and underdosage less likely where field edges abut.
