Abstract

A new method is described for the rapid injection of large quantities of fluorescent tracer sand onto the seabed in water up to 10 m or so deep. It has been used successfully in bedload sediment transport measurements, giving quantitative results comparable with those employing radioactive tracer. In particular the tracer was detected in significant quantities for more than half a year after injection.
