Abstract
Abstract The electrochemical oxidation of Co, Cu, Zn and Cd in non-aqueous (acetone) solution of cinnamic (CAH) and/or hippuric (HAH) acid hydrazides gave the corresponding 1:2 complexes in very good yields. The advantage of the method is discussed. When a neutral bidentate donor (1,10-phenanthroline) is present in solution, adducts with 1:1 ratio are formed. The compounds have been characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, electrical conductivity, magnetic and spectral studies. An octahedral structure is proposed for the Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes. Also, the biological activity of the ligands and their metal complexes has been investigated.
