Abstract

The Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) is an airborne system which has been widely used and is involved in flight safety, so it is very important that the software of TCAS is fully tested to guarantee its correctness. Among all kinds of tests, the test for the TCAS algorithm (CAS logic) is the most critical one. This paper analyzed the characteristics of the existing test environments for CAS logic and proposed a new synchronous test platform for CAS logic based on an asynchronous test environment. This new test platform not only can test CAS logic on real hardware devices but also solved the synchronization problem of asynchronous test environment. This is a significant improvement, because synchronization is a precondition to use the standard test suit. Practical tests prove that the new test platform is usable and valid.
