Abstract

A sum rule which relates the deep-inelastic polarized structure function g1p(x, Q2) to the cross section of photoproduction, (σ3/2 - σ1/2), is derived. This sum rule makes it possible to compare the integral of g1p(x, Q2) with the Drell-Hearn-Gerasimov sum rule without worrying about contributions from higher twist terms. Further this sum rule shows that there may exist a dynamical mechanism which relates the low energy region to the high energy one. It is conjectured that the spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking of the vacuum is the origin of this mechanism.
