Abstract

In this article, we studied the synthesis of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) over Co3O4, Fe2O3-Co3O4, and NiO-Co3O4 catalyst nanoparticles supported by MgO powder at 600–900°C. The size of the catalyst nanoparticles was controlled by changing metal nitrates concentration in aqueous solution by impregnation method. The most important strategy (part) of this research is that synthesis of CNTs was started suddenly without any preheating of catalyst nanoparticles. The yield of CNTs is much higher than with conventional preheating processes of catalyst nanoparticles on growth of CNTs.
