Abstract

A new fly species, Eumerus muratovi Barkalov, sp. n., is described from the high mountains of the Pamirs, Tajikistan. The species belongs to the species group characterized by yellow spots on abdominal tergites II and III, dichoptic eyes in the male, and black antennae. The new species differs from all the known congeners in a mostly black abdomen, a comparatively long pilosity on the body, and in the structure of the male genitalia. The description is supplied with line drawings of the abdomen, antenna, wing, and male genitalia, as well as with pictures of the holotype. Comparison with most similar species is provided.
