Abstract

From plankton samples taken at the Bahia de Ascension, in the central portion of the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, an undcscribed species of a monstrilloid copepod belonging to the genus Thaumaleus was collected. The new species is best distinguished by the absence of a medial constriction in the genital segment, by the armature and structure of the fifth legs, and by the armature of the antennulae. This is the second record of the genus Thaumaleus in the region.
