Aoki, J. &F. Ito, 1997. A new species of oribatid mite collected from ant nests in Oriental tropics. J. Acarol. Soc. Jpn., 6(2): 107-112.A new species of oribatid mite, Protoribates myrmecophilus, is described from nests of myrmicine ants Myrmecina spp. in West Malaysia, Sabah and Sumatra. The new species differs from the known congeners in the sensilli almost without. barbation, the rostrum projecting in trapezoid form and the hardly visible notogastral setae.Key words: oribatid mite, ant nests, new species, Protoribates myrmecophilus
